International Gas Union
Founded in 1931, the International
Gas Union (IGU) is the acknowledged spokesperson the world gas industry and
the engine for growth and development of the global gas market. A worldwide
non-profit organisation registered in Vevey, Switzerland, IGU supports
continued global development, marketing and utilisation of the gas industry. To
this end, the organisation has been actively involved in the cooperation and
promotion of active exchange with many global energy organisations. IGU’s working organisation covers all domains
of the gas industry from exploration and production of natural gas, pipeline
and piped distribution systems to customers' premises and combustion of the gas
at the point of use. To date, IGU’s membership includes associations and
entities of the gas industries from 73 countries.
As the largest international body for the gas industry, IGU conducts a
variety of investigative and research activities through its Committees. The
results of such activities are presented once every three years at the World Gas Conference.
