Paul van Gelder took up the position of Chairman and CEO of NV Nederlandse Gasunie on 1 September 2010. Prior to taking on his new role at Gasunie, he was Managing Director of TAQA Europa and TAQA Energy, responsible for TAQA’s European operations. His previous positions in TAQA included Project Director of Bergermeer Gas Storage developing an underground gas storage facility. Mr van Gelder joined TAQA at a very early stage of the development of the company as he was working for BP in the Netherlands when BP Nederland Energie was acquired by TAQA at the end of 2006. Before his career with BP he worked as Director of Logistics for Driessen Aerospace Systems in the Netherlands and in the Czech Republic. This followed a career in the Royal Netherlands Air Force and Royal Netherlands Navy where he rose to Commanding Officer after having fulfilled several operational positions both in the Netherlands and abroad. Mr van Gelder is a graduate of the Royal Netherlands Naval Academy and has a Masters degree from the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. He is a member of the Supervisory Board at the Energy Delta Institute and a member of the Advisory Board of Clingendael.

It is an integrated gas utility having presence across the businesses of gas transmission, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, gas processing (LPG and liquid hydrocarbons), LPG pipeline transportation, re-gassified-LNG, City Gas/CNG ventures, and E&P etc. GAIL recorded a turnover of $5.6 billion and PAT of $0.68 billion during 2009 - 10. Mr Tripathi is also the Chairman of Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Limited, Indraprastha Gas Ltd, and GAIL Gas Ltd. In addition, he is Director on the Board of Petronet LNG Ltd, a joint venture of GAIL. Prior to taking over as Chairman of GAIL, Mr Tripathi was Director (marketing) of the company. He has over 29 years of experience in the domain of project planning, management and execution, operations and maintenance and marketing. Mr Tripathi is a mechanical engineer by qualification.

Zhou Jiping is the President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Vice Chairman and President of PetroChina. Mr Zhou holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in geophysics from China Petroleum University and Chinese Academy of Science. From 1985 to 1986, he enjoyed a one year advanced learning program in Statoil. He worked in Exxon, USA as a visiting scholar from 1991 to 1992. In October to November 1997 he participated as a senior visiting scholar in the Eisenhower Fellowship Program in USA. Mr Zhou has nearly 40 years’ experience in both onshore and offshore petroleum exploration and development, particularly on international cooperation with foreign partners. He is responsible for the day to day operations of the natural gas and electric subsidiaries of the Integrys Energy Group, Inc., which serve 1.6 million natural gas customers and 500 thousand electric customers in four Midwestern states. Mr Borgard has spent 26 years in the energy industry. He is involved in a number of civic organisations, and is the first Vice Chairman of the American Gas Association. He will be appointed as Chairman in January 2012.

Umberto Vergine, born in Milan in 1957, is a Chartered Civil Engineer from Politecnico di Milano and joined Eni in 1984. Having started his career in Agip as a Petroleum Engineer, he worked between 1985 and 1991 in Norway on the Ekofisk field, in Angola in Cabinda and in Libya in Tripoli. He then took the responsibility of production manager of the Crema District in the north of Italy. Between 1993 and 2001, Mr Vergine covered various leading positions overseas, managing different Eni E&P companies; District Manager of Agip UK in Aberdeen, District General Manager of Nigerian Agip Oil Co (NAOC) in Port Harcourt and General Manager of Petrobel Company in Egypt. In 2001 he was Managing Director of Lasmo Venezuela in Caracas. At the end of 2002 he was appointed Managing Director of Ieoc in Cairo. Mr Vergine returned to Italy in 2004 where he held in the Eni E&P Division the following responsibilities; Regional Vice President West Africa and Egypt, Senior Vice President for North Sea, Americas, Russia, Far East and Pacific, Senior Vice President Technologies & Services. Executive Vice President for South Europe, Central Asia, Far East and Pacific. In 2010 he was appointed Eni SpA Senior Executive Vice President for Studies and Research. Since January 2012 he has been Chief Operating Officer of the Gas & Power Division. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Saipem SpA.

Christophe de Margerie joined the Group after graduating from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Paris in 1974. Born in 1951, he served in several positions in the Group’s Financial department and Exploration and Production division. He became President of Total Middle East in 1995 before joining the group’s Executive Committee as the President of the Exploration and Production division in May 1999. He then became Senior Executive Vice President of Exploration and Production of the new TotalFinaElf group in 2000. In January 2002, he became President of the Exploration and Production division of TOTAL. He was appointed a Member of the Board of Directors by the shareholders’ meeting held on 12 May 2006. He became Chief Executive Officer of TOTAL and Chairman of the Executive Committee on 14 February 2007. He was appointed Chairman and CEO of TOTAL on 21 May 2010.
